Livin’ Our Best Life


I see the expression “I’m going to live my best life” pretty often. Whether I’m scrolling through Facebook or the shaderoom, someone is out here living their best life. After an emotional couple of years, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again. Now, it’s time for me to start living my best life. The question is; how does one live their best life?


Whenever I see the caption “Livin’ my best life” someone is typically being carefree and full of joy. For me, living your best life is taking care of yourself first and having fun. You have to detox your body, mind, and heart to take care of yourself. You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this but bear with me and I’ll further explain.


Detox- a process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances; detoxification.


Detoxing my body

I am not the healthiest person in the world. I eat junk food and fast food and sometimes I only eat once a day. So my first order of business is to detox my body. I want to be healthier and get into shape. The hardest thing for me to do is, fall into and stick with a healthy routine. Nowadays, everyone is going vegan. I, however; do not plan on joining them. I would like to try a meat-free diet. I was a vegetarian for one year when I was in middle school. Yes, it was hard but, I ate plenty of fruits and vegetables. The goal is for me to eat wiser and drink plenty of water. I also plan on shaping my body with a nice workout. This is by far one of the hardest things for me to do, but I’m determined to live my best life. I have to start with my body and move to my mind.


Detoxing my mind

You are your worst critic. The “I can’ts” and “I’m not good enoughs” can hinder you from living your best life. No one; especially you, should keep you from having peace of mind. It’s time to put an end to having a negative mindset. Detoxing your mind is simple. First think of all the things that put you down. Next write them all down. Then give them to God. And lastly, burn them to ashes. Remember, because of God, we are bigger than our situations. A peaceful mind is the second step to living your best life. Once we detox our minds, we detox our hearts.


Detox my heart

I have a habit of putting up walls. By doing so, I block out not only love but adventure as well. The best way to live your best life is to open your heart to new possibilities. Detoxing your heart will help you feel free and young. Have fun! Take yourself out sometimes. Focus on you! I said in my post last week that my goal going forward was to live free. Remove the pain and heartache. Learn how to guard your heart without developing a hard exterior. Let your heart be open and go after what you want. That’s living your best life at its finest.


So these are my steps to living my best life. We have to treat our bodies well. Remove negativity. And open our hearts to new possibilities. Once I adopt these steps, I know my life will change for the best. I will know how to handle situations better and never hinder myself again. I’ll be living my best life.
